What is Master/Slave Group Control?

Master/slave group control, also called corridor function.

Luminaires with a built in corridor function are a simple and efficient way of reducing energy consumption. Where light has to be provided 24 hours a day for statutory and safety reasons, the corridor function helps to provide the right level of light at all times and for all different activity types.

Typical Application: corridors, hallways, stairwells, lift lobbies, public buildings, pedestruabunderpasses, underground train stations, ATM booths etc.

How it works?

1. With sufficient natural light, the light doesn’t switch on when the presence detected.

2. When insufficient natural light, the person comes form any direction, the group of luminaries switch on simultaneously.

3. After hold time, the whole group of luminaries switch off automatically.

Key Features and Advantages of Master/Slave Control:

Luminaires with a master-slave function enable the control of multiple lights in a group.

Suppose one luminaire is a Master and the others are Slave. In this case, the Master luminaire will be equipped with microwave motion sensor, but the Slave luminaire won’t have a sensor. A sensor connected to the Master luminaire will control both the Master itself and all Slave luminaires connected to it at the same time. When the master luminaire detects the motion from any direction and switchs on, the slave luminaires in one group will be triggered simultaneously.

The maximum number of Slave luminaires that can be “enslaved” by one Master depends on 2 factors: 1. Luminaire power; 2. Maximum rated load of the sensor. Litwheat provides 2 load version, YW101 with Max.1200W and YW102 with Max. 300W. YW102 works with no buzzing relay sound, , which can be a key selling point for market expansion. If you want to connect more luminaires, a 2000W capacity is more than sufficient. Below is the example of master/slave wiring diagram.
