What is Swarm Intelligence?

Swarm intelligence, also called RF Wireless Lighting Control.

It’s an advanced and decentralized lighting control system inspired by the collective behavior of organisms like ants or bees. Instead of relying on a central controller, each light fixture in the system communicates with others wirelessly, forming a network that optimizes lighting performance and energy use in real time.

Typical Application: Underground Car Parking Lots and Garages, Commercial Buildings etc.

How it works?

1. With sufficient daylight, sensor won’t be triggered by motion, all lamps are off.

2. With insufficient natural light, either car 1 or car 2 enters the garage, sensor A or Z will be triggered on and send RF signal simultaneously to all grouped sensors, all lamps will be 100% ON.

3. The whole grouped lamps will switch off automatically after the stand-by period if no further movement detected.

Key Features and Advantages of Swarm Intelligence:

The lighting fixtures automatically form a mesh network, using RF (radio frequency) signals for wireless communication. Each lighting fixture acts as an independent node in a network, communicating with nearby fixtures to switch on the lights. Using  DIP switches to configure RF sensor grouping.

Swarm intelligence allows the system to dynamically adjust lighting levels based on real-time data from sensors or other nodes. For example, when people move through a space, lights ahead can brighten while those behind dim, optimizing energy use. Wireless microwave motion sensor is a solution for situations, where client already has wire infrastructure which lacks DALI lines. By using this RF wireless sensor, it is possible to avoid changes in existing wire infrastructure. This sensor is also convenient to use in situations where running additional wires can be challenging or expensive.
